Raiders Fans Want Josh McDaniels Fired Over Bizarre Decision To Kick Field Goal Late In Game

NBC

Raiders fans want answers from head coach Josh McDaniels over his decision-making at the end of the Steelers-Raiders game.

In the red zone with a little bit over two minutes left in the 4th quarter and down 8 points, McDaniels decided to kick a field goal on fourth down instead of going for the touchdown.

The Raiders eventually lost the game, and fans were livid with McDaniels’ decision.

Things have gotten so bad that “fire McDaniels” began trending on social media after the Raiders’ loss.

While fans want McDaniels fired, he’s likely staying, considering it would be too costly to fire him right now.

Last year, LA Times’ Bill Plaschke reported that the Raiders would likely keep McDaniels around because they’re too “cash poor” to fire him and hire a new coach.

“I’m saying right now: Josh McDaniels will be the coach this year and next year. Raiders don’t have the money to fire him, to pay him off. They’re cash poor,” Plaschke said
