In a surprising turn of events, the Los Angeles Rams are reportedly looking to trade their star quarterback Matthew Stafford, according to former NFL General Manager Michael Lombardi on the Pat McAfee Show.

Lombardi stated that Stafford is “fully available” and that the Rams have already contacted teams about trading him.

This news is particularly surprising considering the Rams’ recent success, having won the Super Bowl in the 2021 season. However, it appears that the team is now looking to shake things up and potentially make some changes to their roster.

In addition to Stafford, several other star veterans on the Rams roster are also reportedly on the trading block or could potentially be cut, including cornerback Jalen Ramsey, wide receiver Allen Robinson, and linebacker Leonard Floyd. The team already parted ways with star Linebacker Bobby Wagner.

On March 18, 2021, Stafford was traded to the Rams in a package involving Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round pick and two first-round picks in 2022 and 2023.

One question that remains is whether head coach Sean McVay believes he can win long-term with someone like Baker Mayfield as his quarterback. If the Rams do indeed trade Stafford, they will need to find a suitable replacement, and Mayfield could be a potential option.

As the NFL offseason continues, it will be interesting to see how the Rams’ roster takes shape and whether they will be able to remain competitive in the highly competitive NFC West.
