The LSU Tigers’ national title defense came to an end on Monday as Kim Mulkey’s bunch fell to Iowa in the Elite Eight. In a rematch of last season’s championship game, the Hawkeyes came out on top thanks to a huge performance from superstar Caitlin Clark.
Clark certainly lived up to the billing, but her LSU counterpart Angel Reese struggled a bit on the offensive side of the ball. Some of that might’ve been due to a first-half injury that forced her off the court momentarily.
Reese began the night with some trash talk, subtly trolling her opposition in pregame warmups. She backed that talk up in the first half where she connected on six of her first eight shots.
She then appeared to roll an ankle while blocking a Caitlin Clark attempt under the basket.

After leaving the game briefly, she returned to finish out the second quarter of action. Unfortunately, Angel Reese was far less effective from that point on.
The forward ended the game 7-for-21 on the night, missing 12 of her final 13 shots. She was also just 3-for-8 from the charity stripe.
Making matters worse, Reese found herself in foul trouble, eventually fouling out on a controversial charge call in the fourth quarter.

Despite the exit, and the struggles to put the ball in the basket, it was another productive game for Angel Reese, who racked up 20(!) boards and three blocks.
Hawkeyes fans certainly enjoyed the moment given the taunting Reese dished out in the title game last year. There’s no love lost!
For Iowa, the season continues for at least one more game. For the LSU star, she’ll now have a decision to make on her NCAA future.
