Gonzaga just got a huge piece back in its pursuit of a national title. Star big man Drew Timme is returning to Spokane as he looks to lead the Bulldogs back to the NCAA tournament in the 2022 season.

It can’t be said how big of an impact this has on the reigning WCC Champs. Timme averaged 18.4 points per game last year, helping his squad to a 28-4 overall record and a Sweet 16 appearance.

That total was actually down from the 19 points a night he averaged as a sophomore. He’s led the team in scoring each of the last two seasons.

Now, he looks to make it a three-peat in his final year with the Zags. He’ll undoubtedly enter the preseason as a National Player of the Year candidate, which he hopes to add to his long list of accolades. Timme is a two-time All-American, a Conference Player of the Year, and an All-Tournament performer.

This news is a nightmare for opponents that will have to go through the Bulldogs to land a national championship. Timme seems like he’s been at Gonzaga for a decade now due to his significant contributions on the court.

The sports world was commenting on that very thought as soon as his announcement to return was made public.
