Peyton Hillis’s condition is improving based on updates given by family members on Thursday. The former NFL running back was in ICU following a selfless act.
Hillis made headlines last week after saving his children from drowning. The kids apparently got caught in a rip current, but the quick acting hero was able to get to them in time.
Unfortunately, Hillis suffered setbacks from the lifesaving effort, landing him in the hospital after the fact. His uncle posted a message online to key followers in on his condition.
“He’s in intensive care and having some problems with his kidneys and lungs, but doctors say he’s improving.”
On Thursday, fans got another positive update on the rusher.

Girlfriend Angela Cole posted a message on Instagram that Peyton Hillis was on the “road to recovery,” while informing followers that he’s now been taken off a ventilator. After being in critical condition for nearly a week, it’s the update that football followers needed to hear.
A hero. So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful for family and this incredible hospital. Peyton is off the ventilator and is on the road to recovery. Please continue to pray for he’s still got a ways ahead of him, but thank you for all of your prayers and love and support thus far. It truly makes all the difference. Today was a good day

Hillis is a former Madden cover athlete who ran for 1,177 yards and 11 scores in 2010. Over a seven-year NFL career, he totaled 2,832 rushing yards with the Broncos, Browns, Chiefs, and Giants.
He was also a star at Arkansas where he was a part of the three-headed monster that was Hillis, Darren McFadden, and Felix Jones. His fans and followers are happy to hear he’s doing better.
