Reporters are having issues with mosquitoes outside of Alligator Alcatraz.
Earlier this week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the opening of the immigration detention center in the Florida Everglades. It was built in eight days and features more than 200 security cameras, 28,000-plus feet of barbed wire, and 400 security personnel.
Immigrants who are arrested by Florida law enforcement officers will be taken to the facility.
Reporting outside of Alligator Alcataz has been miserable for reporters, who complain of mosquitos swarming them due to rain in the area.
Good morning from entrance of Alligator Alcatraz. Fear the mosquitos not the alligators here. They are CRAZY especially after all the rain. Tried making a video & I couldn’t stand longer than 3 mins even w/ bug spray. Now there’s bunch in my car from briefly opening the door lol pic.twitter.com/2r4csFMd78
