Oh how the mighty have fallen. There was a time not too long ago when Robert Griffin III was one player every ESPN analyst couldn’t shut up about, the guy they’d go on and on and on about as being the future of the Redskins. Now he’s lucky to even get a shout out on Twitter during game days, because the entire world has moved on without him while he continues to collect over $3.2 million in salary this year without every playing a single down.
While Kirk Cousins continues to win games for the Washington Redskins and keep his team in the hunt for the NFC East title RG3 continues to get rich while warming the bench, and his public persona is at an all time low. This is evidenced by this photo snapped from D.C. showing a rack of RG3 jerseys on sale for less than the price of a McDonald’s Big Mac:
I know his run here is over but $3 jerseys? A Lego Mini Bryce Harper was $5 #Redskins #HTTR pic.twitter.com/hAmW4SBW63

I guess if you’re looking for a last minute Christmas gift then an RG3 jersey is the perfect item, even if the person you buy it for might immediately throw it into the trash.
Keep in mind this is how much RG3’s getting paid this year for not taking a single snap on the field:
#RG3 has not played & will make $3,269,877 this #NFL season. Kirk Cousins will make $660,000 this season. #Redskins

These NFL contracts just shouldn’t be guaranteed money. There need to be risk involved, and the ‘guaranteed money’ should be shifted to a signing bonus if teams are willing to do that. The fact that RG3’s getting paid so much to sit on the bench while Redskins fans absolutely hate him is nothing but detrimental to the entire organization. (h/t BSO)
