Rick Carlisle Taped His Mouth Shut When Asked About The Officiating To Avoid A Fine

After getting slapped with a $25,000 fine for criticizing the officials on Friday night, Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle wasn’t taking any chances.

After last night’s season-extending victory over the Houston Rockets, the Jim Carrey lookalike literally taped his mouth shut after a reporter asked about the officiating.

Smart move.

Just thinking about this, isn’t it beyond ridiculous that the NBA fines players and coaches for being candid about the officiating? They spent the entire game doing it in a much more public forum. Why is a postgame bitch or moan that much worse than the ones that peppered the 48 minutes before?

It’s a damn shame, really. Especially because it just recently had an adverse impact on Carlisle’s very important prop comedy budget.
