The 2023 Derek Jeter Invitational was held at the Baha Mar resort in The Bahamas over the weekend, May 11-13. It’s The Captain‘s annual celebrity-packed golf tournament and invitational gala to support the Turn 2 Foundation.
The event was full of A-Listers this year, celebrities and pro athletes. In attendance was former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski who posted up on a par-3 and heckled everyone that came by to hit a tee shot.
Someone from The Players Tribune, Derek Jeter’s website, had the foresight to set up a camera and film Rob Gronkowski heckling fellow athletes and celebs. The end result is five glorious minutes of Gronk heckling people during their backswings:
Chris Tucker looked down the tee after his hip waggle. But based on the chunky sound and look of that horrendously tight swing I was almost certain he had whiffed the ball until he looked toward the green.
It bears mentioning that Rob Riggle hit what appeared to be a utility iron or a 3-wood on a par-3. Riggle spent 20 years in the Marine Corps and stays in great shape. Someone needs to teach that man how to harness some power in his golf swing.
It is also worth mentioning that actor Kevin Connolly who played ‘Eric’ on Entourage might’ve had the least aesthetically appeal swing out there. But hey, at least he got invited to Derek Jeter’s event and dealt with Rob Gronkowski heckling him with his head held high.
For his part, when it came time to quit the heckling and swing, Gronk got some club on the ball. He didn’t stiff it to the pin but Gronk had a pretty solid swing.
