Rob Gronkowski hasn’t taken a snap since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the LA Rams in the NFC Divisional Round of the 2021 NFL Playoffs.

Gronk’s retirement after the 2021 season was his second retirement but it carried an air of finality. Even as rumors persisted throughout the 2022 NFL season that Gronk might make a comeback it never seemed like it would actually happen.

Speaking with Babcock and Mojo, Rob Gronkowski revealed how close he was to returning this season. Spoiler alert: not very. He thought about it but says he’ll never return just because he’s ‘thinking about it.’

Gronk then lays out the unlikely scenario that would see bring him back to the NFL:

When speaking about whether or not he’d return to the NFL, Rob Gronkowski had this to say:

“Like Dumb and Dumber, baby. You’re sayin’ there’s a chance. You never know. What if someone wanted to throw the whole salary cap at me, baby, or half of the salary cap, then you gotta think about it. Throw me some quarterback money. Then you’re talking, so there’s always a possibility.”

It is HIGHLY unlikely that an NFL team would throw ‘quarterback money’ at Gronk. He’s one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history but he’s only getting older and Gronk is injury prone.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans would LOVE to have Gronk back this weekend for the NFL Playoffs but it’s not going to happen.

Interestingly, Rob Gronkowski will be returning to the NFL Playoffs this season. He just won’t be wearing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform.

Gronk is going to kick a field goal that could see fans awarded $10M in free bets on Fanduel.
