Camille Kostek spoke earlier this week about having to hide her relationship with NFL star Rob Gronkowski. The power couple has been going strong since 2013.
Kostek dished on the drama during a recent interview at SI Miami Swim Week, and it’s now gone viral on social media.
The model has previously spoken on her first encounter with the former pass catcher, with Gronkowski asking her out at a Goodwill food drive in November of 2013. Now, she’s going a step further.
The issue of a relationship arose due to the fact that both were working for the New England Patriots at the time of their meeting. Camille Kostek was a cheerleader while Gronk was winning Super Bowls with Tom Brady. A team policy forbid the pair from going public during the ’13 and ’14 seasons.
Here’s what she had to say.
“We were at a charity event in 2013 in November, and he put his number on a cheerleader poster I was signing that day… I was doing the appearance for the cheerleaders. He was there for the football players. Jermaine Wiggins, an alumni player brought this poster over and said, ‘Just take this; Rob has his number on there.’
“I said, ‘Oh, my gosh, that’s kind of crazy. I’m never going to call him or else I’ll get fired from the team.’ But then I called him, and I had to keep it a secret for like, two years. Fun fact.”
While the secret love affair went on for a couple of seasons, the two were able to finally break the news in 2015 after she moved on from the New England cheer squad. And they’re still going strong. They recently celebrated their ninth year together since that original meeting.
Camille Kostek might’ve had to wait a while before letting everyone in on the relationship, but it’s obviously worked out for the best.
