Rob Gronkowski will make a return to the field in the upcoming NFL playoffs. While it won’t be as a player, he’ll still provide entertainment for viewers.

The Pro Bowl tight end is making his first appearance in partnership with FanDuel sportsbook. Gronk recently announced his plans to join the FanDuel team, posting a hilarious video on social media to commemorate the deal.

Now, we’ll see him in action.

It was announced on Monday that the former pass catcher plans to star in a commercial during the third quarter of Super Bowl LVII. In that commercial, he’ll return to the gridiron where he’ll kick a field goal. Should that “Kick of Destiny” sail through the uprights, fans will have a chance to win a share of $10M in free bet prizes from FanDuel.

Here’s what Rob Gronkowski had to say about the opportunity in a recent interview.

“Everyone knows that I love throwing myself into fun. I love trying out new ideas. Obviously, I can catch a football… Why not try to kick a field goal? I was punt, pass, and kick champion in Western New York region when I was growing up. I love kicking field goals.”

That Super Bowl appearance should hold the eyes of viewers around the country as everyone loves an opportunity to win free money. And with Rob Gronkowski being one of the more likeable personalities around the league, NFL fans are sure to have some fun with the kick – make or miss.

Luckily, it sounds like Gronk is prepping for the big field goal. He says that he’s had experience in the past, once kicking a 33-yarder in his high school playing days. He’ll hope to go 2 for 2 in his career during the Super Bowl.

While we won’t see Rob Gronkowski competing for a championship this season, maybe this is the next best thing. And rumors are already beginning to swirl about a 2023 return to the NFL, so we might get that wish in Super Bowl LVIII.
