Rob Gronkowski revealed some personal news following a cryptic tweet posted to social media earlier this week, and no, he’s not returning to the NFL.

The All-Pro tight end teased fans with a subtle message suggesting he might be thinking about coming back to the football field as the postseason nears. It’s a move we’ve seen Gronk pull a few times throughout his career, as he’ll join a roster late in the year to help a team win a Super Bowl.

But the oft-injured star isn’t planning an NFL comeback this time around. Instead, he’s announced a new partnership with a prominent player in the sports betting industry. Here’s what Gronk posted to his Twitter page on Thursday morning.

Gronkowski will join forces with FanDuel, most likely in some sort of brand ambassador role. In the hilarious clip, the Super Bowl champ is seen hanging out at his house, searching for something to pass the time.

He shoots a little pool, watches the tube, and even does some meditation before saying, “I’m bored.”

“I’m bored. I may go back and play… Just kidding. But I really need something to do.”

Gronk then gets a phone call, presumably from FanDuel and not Tom Brady. He announces his decision to partner with the company shortly thereafter.

“What’s up everyone? It’s Gronk. I’m super excited to be joining the FanDuel family. We’ve got a lot of great things coming, so stay tuned.”

FanDuel retweeted the post with a caption that read, “Welcome aboard.” Both parties seem excited to move forward with the tag team, and why wouldn’t they be?

Gronkowski is one of the biggest personalities in the NFL. Despite his retirement, he’s widely followed by fans, media, and the league itself. He’ll now join forces with one of the largest legal sports betting businesses in the US. A perfect combo.

It should be fun to follow the partnership, though his ties to sports gambling might all but end his chances at an NFL return.
