With the Kansas City Chiefs advancing to the Super Bowl, that means that we are going to get a lot of narrative around the power couple of pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce.

I don’t think anyone would argue they’ve been the biggest side plot to the NFL season, and it’s captured the attention of the league and their fans since she attended her first game all the way back in week three.

Few, if any, music stars have captured the zeitgeist like Swift has the past year-plus. With three top-charting album releases and the world’s most lucrative music tour of all-time all in the past eighteen months, she has dominated like no one has ever before. The attention that she received after she started dating one of the most recognizable football players in the NFL only intensified her pop culture impact.

Naturally, there are haters, lots of them. Whether they hate the Chiefs, Taylor Swift’s perceived politics, Travis Kelce’s perceived politics, or think football broadcasts should be designed exclusively for 57-year-old men who last listened to the Billboard Top 100 when Poison was cranking out hits, there has been a lot of negative attention that she has received lately. That’s only intensified during the playoffs, and a lot of it has to do with the fact that people are tired of the Chiefs winning. This will be their fourth Super Bowl in five years, a feat only two other teams have accomplished.

But, former NFL quarterback and ESPN personality Robert Griffin III has a message for the haters.

“Good for you Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. You gotta be a real hater to see this level of happiness and be like, “Yea I don’t like it,” he said on Twitter.

I have to agree, RGIII. Both of them are good role models, pretty clearly have a good thing going, and bring some positivity to a news cycle that is increasingly negative. And, if you’re tired of the Chiefs, remember the quote, “winners think about winning, losers think about winners.”

Whether you like it or not, the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce talk will be unavoidable in the lead up to the Super Bowl. I suggest you enjoy the ride.
