  • Robert MacIntyre made a hole-in-one during the opening round of the Zurich Classic.
  • It was a unique ace given the fact he didn’t see it actually happen.

Robert MacIntyre struck his tee shot on the Par 3 14th at the Zurich Classic on Thursday morning and didn’t exactly like it. He didn’t even think the shot was worth watching as he walked off the tee and turned his back to the green.

Well, it turns out the shot was quite literally perfect.

MacIntyre’s ball did land short of the green but got an exceptional bounce before tracking perfectly into the cup for a hole-in-one.

He, nor any of his playing partners for that matter, saw the ball drop into the hole.

Talk about a great surprise.

As someone who hits more below-average shots than pure ones, I can confirm that miss-hitting a shot but getting away with it is one of the finer feelings in golf.

MacIntyre is playing with fellow Scot Martin Laird this week in the team event. The duo carded a 6-under 66 in their opening round.
