So cycling may not be the most exciting sport of all time, but it certainly has its moments. One of those moments, a particularly tragic one, came today in the Netherlands during the 8 Drenthe Westerveld race. Nearly to the finish line and in the thick of the race, Australian cyclist Loren Rowney found herself crashing to the cold, hard pavement after a rogue fan grabbed her handlebars from the sideline.
Yeah, that was totally bogus. I’m not sure what the ramifications of that incident will be, but you feel for Rowney — that was just not cool.
