Like father, like son. Like David Beckham, like Romeo Beckham.

Romeo, the son of English soccer legend David Beckham, scored his first professional goal in MLS NEXT competition on Sunday night and it was an absolute beauty. The 19-year-old netted a brilliant free-kick for Inter Miami II in the late minutes against Orlando and it was remarkably reminiscent of his father’s famous bend.

Playing in the third tier of soccer in the United States, Romeo Beckham lined up outside of the box on the left side. He proceeded to take the kick and dipped his shot over the Orlando City B wall, curving it past the keeper and into the bottom left corner to give Miami a two-goal cushion in a match that finished 3-1.

Before the goal went in, the announcer quipped: “I think we’ve seen this before.” And we had, Romeo’s first goal in the MLS-run developmental league was just like the ones that his father scored time and time again throughout his career.

After the match, the senior Beckham posted on Instagram. He let his son, and the world, know how proud he is of his second-born. In response, the younger footballer said that his goal was for him.

To make the whole connection even cooler, Inter Miami’s ownership includes David Beckham. That means that Romeo not only scored his first MLS NEXT goal, but he did so for his father’s club. It surely won’t be the last time we see the legendary offspring find the back of the net!
