Drones have been a blessing to the sports world giving viewers unbelievable shots that the human eye quite literally has never seen before. Some of the most mesmerizing drone footage in sports comes from the golf course, and not just aerial views of certain holes, either.

With the PGA Tour making its stop at the scenic Riviera Country Club this week, it decided to break out a drone and catch Rory McIlroy hitting an approach shot into the iconic 18th green.

McIlroy flushed a short-iron into the green and the drone followed his ball all the way up to the green before making a quick loop back toward the four-time major winner.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the technology is quite there to make this sort of drone shot an actual occurrence during golf tournaments. A drone chasing, and inevitably hitting, a golf ball mid-air could be a problem, but it would be incredible if we do get to a point where drones can give us those kinds of angles of tournament golf.
