Rory McIlroy continued his strong play over the weekend, winning the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club. With the win, he picked up $1.575 million in prize money.

After the tournament, he was heard discussing those winnings with a fan on the course. The interaction is now going viral on social media.

McIlroy has posted six straight top 10 finishes dating back to the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. He produced a second-place result at the US Open, but finally broke through with a win in Scotland.

The golf star got things started early with an opening round of 64. He’d use that to kickstart a stellar performance on his way to a -15 by week’s end.

That Scottish Open win came with a nice payout as Rory left with over one-and-a-half million dollars.

After the tournament, one fan/bettor congratulated McIlroy on the victory while noting a win of his own. The gambler joked, “Rory, you won me 300 pounds!”

The golfer quipped back saying, “I won a wee bit more.”

Fans were quick to comment online.

Sports analyst Trey Wingo said, “Generous definition of the term ‘wee.'”

Another follower wrote, “Rory is the best!”

This fan posted, “This is iconic.”

With the Scottish Open win, Rory McIlroy picked up his first win since October of last year giving him a pair of PGA wins this season. He’s obviously happy with his play over the last few months, and those that backed him at the sportsbooks will be going home happy, too.
