Former NBA PG Ty Lawson thinks Royce White's WNBA stunt is "weird"
Seemingly with nothing better to do in their post-NBA careers, former professional basketball players Enes Kanter and Royce White put themselves at the center of the culture wars by declaring for the WNBA Draft. Former NBA point guard Ty Lawson thinks they’re weird for it.
Former NBA point guard Ty Lawson — who won a national championship with UNC in 2009 and spent nine years in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and Washington Wizards — called out Royce White and Enes Kanter on X/Twitter.

According to Lawson, the pair are “f’n weird” for trying to play in the WNBA.
“These ex nba players declaring that they’re women and trying to get in the 2027 draft is F’n weird!!!!” Lawson tweeted.
While Lawson says he shares the same general opinion of Kanter and White about transgender athlete, he disproves of the way they’re making their point.
“It’s weird that this is even a conversation … trans shouldn’t be allowed in women sports… period… just don’t like that ex -players have to troll like this to get the point across,” Lawson continued in a follow-up tweet.
White — obviously doing whatever he can to maintain his 15 minutes of grifter fame — replied to Lawson with a predictably trollish response.

If White is interested in protecting women, he should perhaps start with his own family, as his ex-wife filed a restraining order against him following allegations of domestic abuse.
According to court documents, White — who never scored a single NBA point due to his fear of flying — allegedly physically abused his ex-wife (such as hair-pulling, slapping, and shoving), alongside an incident where he allegedly chased and grabbed his teenage son by the neck at a high school basketball practice.
