Russell Wilson continues to be the corniest player in the NFL. His latest viral workout video is so ridiculous that I am officially convinced that he is actively trolling.

It has to be on purpose.

If you are somehow unfamiliar with Wilson’s history of hilarious hijinks, there are countless examples. Perhaps his most famous off-the-field moment occurred prior to his first season in Denver.

“Broncos country, let’s ride!” will live forever.

The Broncos are now dead to the 35-year-old Super Bowl champion quarterback. Wilson was released by the organization on March and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers seven days later.

He continues to make it abundantly clear that his time in Colorado is a thing of the past.

In some ways, it is extremely petty. In other ways, it is very admirable.

Wilson has rocked Steelers gear almost exclusively since his signing. Including the workout video that went viral this week. His shirt featured a bunch of Pittsburgh legends and he paired it with yellow shorts.

That part of his outfit was awesome.

And then he ruined it by wearing sunglasses inside. There is simply no need to wear sunglasses inside while lifting weights unless you are dealing with a black eye or violently hungover.

Other than that, it is goofy. If you’re working out outside, take off the sunglasses when you move inside.

There is simply no way that Wilson does not know what he is doing at this point. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt and imagine a scenario where he is completely off of the grid and has never seen any kind of public criticism ever, but there is just no way… it’s everywhere.

Thus, my opinion of Wilson has changed. Not as a (remarkably talented) athlete, as a person.

I now am of the belief that all of his viral videos and preposterous moments are on purpose. We are talking about Russell Wilson every time we, as a collective society, laugh at his shenanigans.

That has to be on purpose. He has to believe that any press is good press and continues to ensure that his name is in the headlines. I am convinced that the corniness is calculated.
