It Doesn’t Look Like This Rutgers Quarterback Knows Just How Bad Rutgers Football Is

If you’re somebody like myself who didn’t go to Rutgers or you’ re not one of their 300 fans and somebody asked you what you knew about the football program you would tell them three things: ‘Ray Rice went there, Greg Schiano coached there and that they are bad.’

That’s it, those are the three answers.

Rutgers has won a total of eight games over the last four seasons with a combined record of 8-41. Its last winning season came in 2014, the Scarlet Knights’ first season in the Big Ten.

A year ago Rutgers’ offense finished 128th out of 130 Division I schools and averaged just over 13 points per game. This season the Scarlet Knights have improved all the way to 125th in total offense scoring 16 points per game.

The struggles came to a head at the end of September as Rutgers fired Chris Ash as head coach.

It doesn’t appear that Rutgers quarterback Johnny Langan is aware of just how bad his football team is though. With Maryland in town and up 7-0 early on Saturday, Langan was able to punch it in the end zone from three yards out. He then went on to do the McGregor walk like he just won the football game.

I’m all for showing out and celebrating a touchdown, but damn, know the moment. Your football team’s lone win this year came against UMass and your last conference win came on Nov. 4 of 2017.

Maryland went on to score 41 straight unanswered points en route to a 48-7 win and Langan finished the day 13-for-25 with two picks. I’m not saying the celebration brough on some bad vibes, but I’m also not not saying that.

It’s a bad look, there’s no denying that, but the positive here is Langan did find a way to have some fun while taking ass-kicking after ass-kicking at Rutgers.

No doubt, the celebration is an all-time football guy move given the circumstances.
