The Chicago Bears bounced back and earned a win over the Detroit Lions after an embarrassing performance a week ago that saw rookie QB Justin Fields struggle mightily.

The Bears reevaluated things and handed the playcalling duties over to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor for the game against Detroit after head coach Matt Nagy’s gameplan was so poor last weekend. Despite Lazor being the one calling the plays in the win, that doesn’t mean Nagy isn’t going to let him have all the praise.

After the game Nagy told reporters that Lazor did call the plays, but “ultimately it goes through me.” He also told the media that he wouldn’t answer another question about who’s calling plays this year, which seems childish for a 43-year-old head coach to say, but here we are.

Ryan Clark didn’t appreciate Nagy’s comments and let him have it during Monday’s edition of ‘Get Up’ on ESPN.

“This week, I ain’t calling no plays, but everything came back to me,” Clark explained. “Me, me, me, me, me, man, shut the hell up. Say ‘you know what, I was bad at calling plays this week, this was the third time I’ve fired myself and the biggest mistake I’ve ever made as head coach is to continue re-hiring myself as the play-caller.'”

Clark hit the nail on the head here. Nagy simply can not get out of his own way. If he would’ve stood in front of that podium and praised Lazor’s game plan and Fields earning the win, we wouldn’t be talking about any of this.

To make things even worse, Nagy told reporters on Monday that Andy Dalton is the Bears starter when healthy while Fields is the No. 2 quarterback.

The Bears season may still be very much alive as they sit at 2-2, but this franchise is an absolute mess.
