The Kentucky Wildcats entered the NCAA Tournament as a dark horse national title favorite, but again fell flat. In a trend that’s become all too familiar for the ‘Cats, UK saw an early exit from the Big Dance after losing to a much lower seed.

This time, it was the Oakland Golden Grizzlies who ended Kentucky’s season, and those sad fans making the trip from Lexington could only watch along in helplessness.

Oakland played their game of the season, most notably guard Jack Gohlke. The sharpshooter made 10(!) three pointers on his way to a game-high 32 points.

That’s not a surprise to Golden Grizzly fans as he’s shot just eight two-pointers all season!

It was a competitive game, though Oakland led most of the way. While they never led by more than six points, they felt in control most of the matchup.

The Wildcats played from behind from the get-go, and fans that made the five-hour trip to Pittsburgh could only watch along in agony.

Hopefully they didn’t book those rooms through the weekend!

Kentucky had one last chance to avoid the upset, getting within one point late, but a corner three with 37 seconds remaining sealed their fate.

Images of those UK supporters quickly surfaced online.

They were shook!

Many immediately pondered the future of head coach John Calipari, who experienced a similar loss two years ago as a two-seed to Saint Peter’s.

Is time running out for Coach Cal in Lexington? The Wildcats will have to pay up if so.

With the win, Oakland advanced to the round of 32 for the first time ever.

After the game, Gohlke said, “We’re not a Cinderella.” He put Oakland on the map! And it might force Kentucky to make a hard decision.
