The 2022 NFL Scouting Combine is officially underway from Indianapolis and the weird antics have already begun. Although players have yet to take the field for on-field drills, the participants have spent the first half of the week meeting with various organizations.

Historically, the meetings often include very strange requests. Whether it’s a weird question about a player finding his own mother attractive, or asking what murder weapon he would choose, there have been some outlandish stories to come from the combine.

Things got so ridiculous that the NFL even implemented rules to prevent the bizarre behavior this season.

That hasn’t stopped teams from getting creative without crossing the line. The Eagles have a unique ask for their prospects this year.

UNC quarterback Sam Howell is among the players in Indianapolis, hoping to improve his draft stock. He joked that Philadelphia might not have him on its board anymore after a recent meeting.

The 21-year-old spoke with media on Wednesday and shared that the Eagles had him shoot a basketball at a mini hoop. He had five shots and only made two.

Perhaps Philly had Howell shoot to break the ice. Perhaps they had him shoot to test his nerves.

Whatever the reason, if that is the strangest thing that Howell must do during the NFL Combine, it will be a good thing. And he wasn’t alone.

There have been some really weird requests in recent years and shooting at a mini hoop is not anywhere near the top of the list. If anything, it’s fun.
