Scott Foster will be on the floor for the Suns-Clippers playoff game on Tuesday which could mean bad news for Phoenix. The veteran referee, who will be part of the Game 2 officiating crew, has an interesting history with guard Chris Paul.

Paul has lost the last 14 playoff games that Foster has called, and fans fear the streak could continue tonight. Social media is erupting with reaction after learning the news.

Foster has called NBA Playoff games with Paul as a member of the Hornets, Clippers, Rockets, Thunder, and now the Suns. His teams have gone a combined 0-14 in Foster-reffed games dating back to 2008, including a loss in last year’s postseason against the Pelicans.

This has been a long-standing beef between the two basketball personalities, and one that both are fully aware of. After his 11th loss in a row with Foster in the officiating lineup, Paul said, “They shot a lot of free throws. If I was a betting man, that’s 11 in a row.”

That trend has obviously continued.

With fans finding out that Foster will be back on the floor in Game 2 of this first round series, reaction on social media has exploded.

What’s maybe most interesting about the trend is that Chris Paul’s team’s have been favored in more than half of those 14 losses, according to Meadowlark Media’s Tom Haberstroh.

Paul’s squad will be favored once again on Tuesday as the Suns enter as an eight-point favorite. We’ll see if the Scott Foster effect continues.
