Scott Hanson says fans can expect fewer ads on NFL RedZone at the start of the 2026 season. So, while it still won’t be “seven hours of commercial-free football,” perhaps it will be better than it was last season.
“I could tell you from where we ended last year, there will not be more,” Scott Hanson informed Front Office Sports. “In fact, the actual ads that you see, there will be fewer of what we call the 15-second commercials with the audio going and the product and whatnot.
“Because we’ve done things like the ‘Mercedes-Benz Drive of the Day’ or the ‘Allstate Good Hands Play of the Day,’we’ve done those things, but that’s not considered an outright commercial. But the 15-second, ‘Okay, we’re on the Dallas Cowboys, first and 10, they get five yards, they’re walking back to the huddle, and then we interject that 15-second standalone commercial?’ There will be fewer at the beginning of the year this year than we ended with at the end of last year. I can confirm that, and people are going to count them, undoubtedly, in week one.”
On the plus side, NFL RedZone viewers will still never miss a touchdown
“But our promise to you is that we never miss a touchdown,” Scott Hanson continued.
Hanson guarantees that they won’t have commercials unless a team is doing something like making its way back to the huddle during a brief moment of inactivity. Additionally, each standalone commercial will, again, last for only 15 seconds.
Scott Hanson is right. People will count the ads. That is a guarantee.
However, as he also pointed out in his interview, “Uncle Scott does not make the decisions when it comes to that. I want everyone to know. The business folks handle the business. I handle the hosting. And this is what has been told to me and our crew.”
