Scottie Scheffler’s Caddie Has Earned More Than The Average PGA Tour Player This Season

Caddying for the best golfer on the planet is a fairly stressful job that nonetheless comes with plenty of perks, and nothing highlights that reality quite like the amount of money Scottie Scheffler’s right-hand man Ted Scott has already earned during the current PGA Tour season.

Ted Scott spent 15 years caddying for Bubba Watson following stints with Paul Azinger and Grant Waite before the two of them went their separate ways in 2021. The veteran bag man considered retiring as he neared his 50th birthday, but he decided to stick with it after getting a phone call from Scottie Scheffler shortly after that amicable divorce.

Scott debuted as Scheffler’s looper at the start of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season. At the time, the golfer was hovering in the mid-teens in the Official World Golf Rankings, but he quickly skyrocketed to No. 1 during a campaign where he racked up four wins—including his first major championship at The Masters.

Scheffler has been going strong since then, as he still occupies the top spot in the OWGR after defending his title at The Players Championship earlier this month a week after walking away on top at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

It’s safe to assume Scott is pretty glad he decided to stick with caddying when you consider he takes home 10% of what Scheffler wins at tournaments on top of his $135,000 salary—an arrangement that has worked out very, very well for him.

As things currently stand, Scheffler has made $10,939,500 in earnings this season, which means Scott has netted $1,093,950 before you take his base pay into consideration.

According to the PGA Tour, that’s more than $300K higher than the $773,049 the average golfer on the circuit has made this year, and he’d be among the 50 highest earners (specifically in 47th place) based on what’s been paid out so far.

Must be nice.
