Scottie Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite to don the Green Jacket after the final round of The Masters wraps up. Given his dominance on the links this year, he currently boasts 5-to-1 odds of taking home the major tournament win.

For reference, nobody else is within 10/1 at the sportsbooks, with Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy sitting right around 11/1 at the time of this writing. Add that recent success to the fact that the golfer has posted two wins and a second-place finish in his last three trips to Augusta National, and it’s easy to justify the gap.

But what if Scottie Scheffler had to withdraw before the week’s end?

It’s a possibility!

The golfer’s wife is pregnant, with the baby expected to come any time now. He was asked about his plan should she go into labor over the weekend.

More from Golf Digest:

The upcoming births have Scottie [Scheffler] and Sam [Burns] keeping one eye towards home, and as the Golf Channel reported Monday night, each man has vowed to withdraw from the tournament should their wives go into labor.

Scheffler isn’t the only player in the field in that scenario. Sam Burns’s wife is also pregnant, leading him to voice the same response.

Scottie Scheffler’s decision could impact sports bettors.

Bet MGM’s John Ewing noted that if the golfer begins the tournament only to pull out before Sunday, any bets placed on Scheffler would be graded as “losers.”

With his recent dominance in Masters play, along with his status as the No. 1 golfer in the world, boatloads of bettors are likely planning to back Scheffler this weekend.

Now, they might have to second-guess that decision!

It gives golf’s greatest weekend yet another storyline as Thursday’s opening round nears.
