Seattle Seahawks Defensive Coordinator Got Garrett Wilson’s Name Wrong During Press Conference

This year’s NFL Draft was loaded with talent at cornerback.

There were 2 taken in the first 5 picks of the draft and 4 in the first round.

While names like Derek Stingley Jr, Sauce Gardner, and Trent McDuffie got most of the attention coming out of the draft, there is a corner that dropped way down the draft board who will be joining Gardner in the Pro Bowl this season.

Tariq Woolen fell all the way to the 5th round before he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks and that is a pick that is quickly paying off for them.

It just so happens that both of the NFL’s Pro Bowl rookie corners will be on the same field this weekend. Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt was asked about the matchup and pointed out that the two corners won’t actually have to worry about each other at all.

Instead, Woolen will have to deal with the Jets’ wide receiver group. Unfortunately, Hurtt talked about a “Chris Garrett” while discussing the Jets’ receivers.

(Tariq Woolen) is not going to line up across from Sauce Gardner one single time. He’s got to cover Chris Garrett, Corey Davis and the rest of this wide receivers group…

Hurtt obviously meant to say “Garrett Wilson” and seemingly combined his name with fellow rookie wide receiver from Ohio State, Chris Olave.

It’s an easy mistake to make, especially if he’s been watching Ohio State tape to prepare for Wilson, but you’d think an NFL defensive coordinator would be able to get an opposing receiver’s name right while talking to the media.

With Zach Wilson no longer throwing Garrett Wilson the ball, there’s a good chance he’ll make sure the Seahawks remember his name after this weekend.
