Sean Murphy showed off some ridiculous raw power on Sunday by blasting a broken bat home run for the Braves. The catcher hit a ball nearly 400 feet despite seeing his bat snap in half after contact.

The insane feat has now gone viral as fans offer their reactions on social media.

Atlanta took on Washington as they close out the final few games of the regular season. While they’ve already secured a division title, the Braves are limping into the postseason a bit having lost seven of their last 12 games.

They’d fall again on Sunday against the Nationals, but some late game fireworks made things a bit more interesting.

Trailing 3-1 in the ninth inning, Sean Murphy stepped up to the dish and quickly cut the deficit in half. The catcher mashed a 398-foot home run to left field to pull his team within a run.

More impressively, he did so while breaking his bat.

After connecting with the pitch, Murphy’s bat broke at the handle. Still, he hit it well enough to leave the yard.

Fans immediately commented on the impressive display of sheer power.

“GROWN MAN HOME RUN!” one follower said.

“That’s some serious strength,” someone else wrote.

“The ultimate bat flip,” this person responded.

The broken bat home run was Murphy’s 21st on the season, and his first since August 13.

He’s hoping the success at the plate will carry over into the playoffs where Atlanta should hold one of the top slots. With 99 wins on the year, they have the best record in baseball.

The offensive fireworks have been the staple of this Braves team in 2023, having seven players with more than 20 homers. Murphy is not one of them after that latest blast, which was easily one of the coolest we’ve seen all season.
