UFC fighter Sean O’Malley is defending UFC President Dana White.

Earlier this week, a video leaked to TMZ showed White exchanging slaps with his wife at a nightclub on New Year’s.

White immediately told TMZ there was no excuse for slapping his wife.

We spoke to Dana about the incident, and he admits he and Anne had been drinking heavily — but quickly adds that’s no excuse for him getting physical. He told us, “You’ve heard me say for years, ‘There’s never ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman,’ and now here I am on TMZ talking about it.”

He says he’s embarrassed by this “horrible” incident, and he and Anne have apologized to each other. He says they’re “good,” but their biggest concern now is for their 3 kids … with whom they’ve already discussed the fight.

While discussing the incident on his podcast, O’Malley defended White by saying that White’s wife deserved to be slapped back.

“He came out with an apology which I watched. I thought he said everything he needed to say but it seemed genuine. God, it’s hard with alcohol. There’s two things, alcohol and chicks don’t mix. You know what I mean.”

“I feel bad for Dana,” O’Malley said. “His wife slapped him. That is rude. And it deserves a slapping back. I don’t know. I don’t know. It’s a tricky one. I don’t know, treat people how you want to be treated.”

I don’t think, sober, would he have done that? No. I would assume sober, no drinks, she slaps him, I don’t think his initial reaction is to slap back. When that alcohol’s flowing, I’ve never hit a girl, but I’ve been blacked out and I’ve done things that I can’t believe I’ve done. What if that was his like, f–k, he did and was like, I don’t know. I don’t think it was right. Obviously, you should not hit, especially a little girl like that. But alcohol is flowing, and she hit him first.”

O’Malley isn’t the only UFC fighter to defend White publicly. Derek Brunson came out a few days ago to show support for the beleaguered UFC President.

As of now, no fighter has come out to criticize White in public over the incident.
