Russell Wilson gave the Seattle Seahawks pretty much a full decade of success and optimism. Russ led Seattle to a 48-8 win in Super Bowl XLVIII over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Suffice it to say, the city of Seattle and its fans are grateful for the incredible years they got from Russ.
But the breakup between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks came swift. The writing was on the wall. There had been rumors for a while that Russ wanted out and his name was constantly attached to trade rumors. When a player is attached to rumors once or twice it’s no big deal but when a pattern emerges there’s usually someone pivotal behind the scenes spreading those rumors.
Seattle Seahawks fans are now coming to grips with the swift breakup. For some fans, it’s not too dissimilar from breaking up with a high school sweetheart. They’re going back and forth between what they loved and hated about him as a coping mechanism. Dave “Softy” Mahler of 950 KJR in Seattle prompted Seahawks fans to share their favorite on-field moments of Wilson’s career along with some stories of his own.
Seahawks Fans Are Sharing What They Will And Won’t Miss About Russell Wilson
These first two tweets from Dave are the ones that made me think pulling together some more reactions from fans was worth it. It’s because these remind me of myself the day(s) after every breakup I’ve ever gone through in my life.
Trying to come up with a different way to say it and keep coming back to this: Wilson became a huge diva. Went Hollywood. Wasn't all about ball anymore. Don't see that from Dak, don't really see it from Mahomes. Can't even think of another QB like him

I mean even Aaron Rodgers is at least consistent. Comes across as a colossal jerk. Every time. I don't even know who Wilson is half the time. Constantly wanted the spotlight on him. Or ppl close to him did. I won't miss that part at all tbh

Other fans chime in about their favorite Russ moments…
Overhead snap vs. Minnesota in the freezing cold that he calmly collected, scrambled, and hit Lockett for a huge gain. Unbelievable.

His 80 yard TD to Baldwin against the Steelers

Crazy enough, the overtime win against Chicago at Soldier Field throwing to Sidney Rice for the win. That game was a struggle and it took two great drives from the rookie to get it done.

TD to kearse, any ball thrown to lockett.

I miss the LOB. I miss Marshawn Lynch. I miss Cliff Avrill. I miss Doug Baldwin. I miss Bennett. I miss Jerome Kearse. I won't miss Russell Wilson. He benefited off have a historically great defense and he wanted it all to be about him.

Then there are other Seattle Seahawks fans who aren’t so nostalgic for the bygone era of Russ cooking up 10 or more wins in 8 of his 10 seasons…
Not sure why everyone is so worked up about a Russell Wilson trade. He's 33 years old and hasn't even gotten out of A-ball yet. Has tools and a solid approach, but lots of swing and miss. Odds are pretty stacked against him, really.

I will miss Russell Wilson and that era. I think I am more excited about the Seahawks right now?

I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again, cooking at altitude is tricky. Broncos fans want to see Russ cook but that boiling point is different in the Mile High City. And as was pointed out by FS1’s Chris Broussard earlier, this could all end up poorly for the Seattle Seahawks.
There is no historical precedent for a quarterback as successful as Russell Wilson being traded in the middle of his career.
