Not only is the SEC the most dominant conference in football, it continues to be the premiere conference in college baseball. As such, the Southeastern Conference is flexing its resumé to the rest of the country at every opportunity.

It’s a brilliant move by the conference and its network.

All of the games are once again being played in Hoover, Alabama. Hoover Metropolitan Stadium is located just outside of Birmingham and has hosted the SEC baseball tournament for 26-straight years.

The on-air backdrop typically looks a little bit different than it does this year. The same goes for regular season games at each school’s respective home stadium.

Normally, the SEC logo is painted on the wall behind home plate. To its left is a blank panel. That panel is typically used to advertise various sponsors. It could be a brand, it could be a product.

Not this year!

The Southeastern Conference knows that the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee is watching along with college baseball fans across the country and used its ad space for self promotion. It is brilliant!

One of the fun facts was a reminder of how hard it is to play in the SEC.

Another one made its case for being the best conference in baseball.

If winning in-conference isn’t enough, the SEC has that covered too!

Oh, and each of the last four national champions came out of the SEC. No big deal.

All four of those graphics would normally display an advertisement. The Southeastern Conference decided to advertise itself instead. Greg Sankey and the fine folks in Birmingham are player chess, not checkers.

They have the eyes of the college baseball world upon them. Why not show some subliminal messaging instead of the sponsors who already get a ton of air time as it is?!
