The SEC Basketball Tournament is in full swing this week in Nashville as the nation’s top conference battles to decide a champion. There’s been a notable change to this year’s event.

Beer is available to the general public for purchase in Bridgestone Arena. Previously, alcohol had only been sold in premium seating areas.

The tournament started on Wednesday when Arkansas tipped off against South Carolina. Many around the venue immediately noted the beer menus throughout the concourse.

The cheapest beer on the list is a 16oz can for $14.50. The most expensive is a large draft for $17.50. A seltzer falls somewhere in between.

Most believe those prices are a bit on the pricier side, though we’ve certainly seen higher at other locations. Maybe more interesting about this particular event is the beer price compared to that of tickets to attend the games.

It costs less to enter the arena than it does to enjoy a frosty beverage. Tickets for the first round of the tournament could be purchased for less than $15 – and that included two games!

Fans have celebrated the SEC Tournament beer sales. It’s something many have waited on for some time. With that said, they’d better come with a full wallet if they plan to have a few cocktails while taking in the action.
