Brady Tkachuk next to Senators fans with signs during his first game back in Ottawa
There was zero doubt Brady Tkachuk was going to get a very rude welcome in Ottawa after playing his first game in the city he abandoned to join the Panthers. Senators fans delivered, and Amazon Prime had to add a content warning for viewers after they assaulted him with a barrage of vulgar chants.
Brady Tkachuk spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Senators, and the man who was named their captain in 2021 was one of their top producers during a tenure that saw him earn an All-Star nod on four occasions.
However, the team failed to make the playoffs during his first six years in Ottawa, and there was growing speculation he was angling for an exit after they were eliminated in the first round for the second time in a row last season.
That ended up being the case, as Tkachuk forced a trade that led to him joining his brother Matthew on the Panthers, a move that did not go over well with fans who understandably viewed him as a traitor.
On Wednesday, the winger headed back to the Canadian Tire Centre for the first time since the divorce, and he was predictably greeted by an incredibly hostile crowd that triggered an unusual alert on a streaming service carrying the game.
Amazon Prime had to warn viewers who tuned into Brady Tkachuk’s return to Ottawa about “mature themes” after fans unleashed a barrage of profane chants
A sold-out crowd of 17,010 fans attended Wednesday night’s showdown, and many of them came armed with signs targeting Tkachuk (as well as multiple spectators who mocked his appearance by donning a mask of Sloth from The Goonies).

He embraced his status as the villain while soaking in the boos he was showered with after the team played an essentially obligatory tribute video during the first period, but that was far from the only verbal assault he was subjected to during the game.

Senators fans peppered the defector with a variety of chants including “YOU CAN’T READ” and “YOU EAT CRAYONS,” but those clean ones were supplemented by more than a few that harnessed some profanity that was pretty easy to hear if you tuned into the game on Amazon Prime, the platform that was carrying it in Canada.

It became an issue to the point where the streamer added a content warning, as fans who went to watch the game were made aware of “mature content” they might be exposed to due to the chants.
Tkachuk scored the lone goal for the Panthers, but Senators fans went home happy after watching their team hand him and Florida a 5-1 loss.
