Seth Tillman committed to play football at Clemson.
Clemson pledge Seth Tillman lost his father on July 7th at the age of 62. He was able to share a major life announcement alongside family just before his passing.
Tillman revealed his college commitment to his dad in a private ceremony from home. It wouldn’t be until later that week that the rest of the college football world knew of his decision.
The defensive lineman posted a video of the sentimental moment to social media on Tuesday. There is not a dry eye on the timeline.
Seth Tillman commits to Clemson.
Tillman is one of the best players in the state of South Carolina. He is considered a four-star talent by 247 Sports. The site ranks him as Top 150 recruit nationally.
The South Pointe product chose Clemson over South Carolina, Georgia, and Michigan. He plans to be a Tiger in 2027.
Tillman made his decision public on July 11th. Days earlier, he informed family members.
“My family and I did a private commitment celebration with my dad before he died last week,” he wrote on X. “My dad is my hero and will forever be sketched in my heart!”
Reginald Tillman died on July 7th according to his obituary. His voice played over a video slideshow during his son’s public commitment at South Pointe High School.
“Hey dad, thank you for everything,” the audio says. “I’ve made my decision. I’m going to Clemson. Thank you for everything. I love you.”
“I love you, too, son,” Reginald is heard replying.
Clemson is getting a stud.
The interior lineman has a high motor and a quick first step. At 6-2 and nearly 300 pounds, it’s a dangerous combination.
Last season, he was credited with 61 tackles and 8.5 sacks to lead South Pointe to the 4A State Championship. His numbers were equally as impressive during his sophomore year when he tallied 76 tackles and 15.5 sacks.
He’ll now look to follow in the footsteps of recent Clemson greats Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, and Peter Woods. Seth Tillman will have his father with him in spirit as he makes the transition to the next level.
