While AJ Brown may no longer be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, he’s still creating drama for the team. Brown admitted during an interview that he put things out into the media in order to emotionally manipulate his teammates.

During a recent interview with Maria Taylor, conducted shortly after AJ Brown was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New England Patriots, the mercurial Pro Bowl wide receiver admitted that his infamous cryptic social media posts and media comments during his time in Philadelphia were made deliberately in order to give his teammates a “push.”

“It was done purposely to give us a push,” Brown said. “I knew if I say something in the media, it’s gonna propel us to work on it. It gives everything legs to push everyone to be better. I feel like it was okay to do.”

Shannon Sharpe ripped AJ Brown for admitting that he put things out into the media to emotionally manipulate his teammates

On his Nightcap podcast alongside Chad Johnson, Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe blasted Brown for his admission, taking particular issue with a team captain deliberately manufacturing media drama to manipulate his own teammates.

“I’m more concerned exactly what stories did he actually leak that he felt was going to help the team and push them to do better. The real fact, this is a story. He admitted to doing it. It don’t matter. He could have said, you know, ‘We ain’t got no pre-wrap. We had Gatorade practice.’ Yeah. The mere fact the man admitted it. It didn’t work. I think I would have kept that one to myself. Some things better left unsaid. That’s just me,” Sharpe said.

“I’m not giving out any information about my team. Whatever transpired, be it a team, be it somebody blown a play, somebody overslept, somebody got fired, somebody got injured, I ain’t telling you. Don’t ask me.”

For as talented a player as Brown is, Eagles fans are likely glad they no longer have to deal with him, especially considering they got a 1st round draft pick back in the trade.
