Simone Biles Sends Stern Message To People Who Keep Mocking Her Husband For Not Knowing Who She Was When They Met

Simone Biles is one of the most famous gymnasts on the planet, so it’s easy to understand why plenty of people were shocked to learn her husband (NFL safety Jonathan Owens) didn’t know who she was when they started dating—and she’s made it very clear she’s sick and tired of people who continue to harp on that oversight.

It’s been close to eight years since Simone Biles was thrust into the spotlight after securing four gold medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

That wasn’t a huge surprise when you consider she’d already racked up 10 of them while competing in the World Championships in the years leading up to the international showcase, but she left Brazil with infinitely more renown than when she arrived.

In 2020, Biles started dating Jonathan Owens, a five-year NFL veteran who signed a two-year deal with the Bears in March, when they met on the exclusive dating app Raya. The two of them tied the knot last April, and toward the end of 2023, the safety surprised plenty of people when he claimed he was in the dark about the superstar status of his now-wife when they initially met.

That revelation sparked a fairly perplexing firestorm courtesy of people who couldn’t believe Owens wasn’t familiar with her prior to that point while accusing him of being a bad partner (I wish I could explain the rationale), and Biles retweeted some messages pushing back against people who piled onto the safety after his comments went viral.

Now, Biles has gotten a bit more aggressive toward his critics in the wake of the 2024 Core Hydration Gymnastics Classic, where she secured the all-around title for the seventh time when the event was held at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut on Sunday while Owens cheered her on.

After the competition wrapped up, Biles hopped on Instagram to let the world know she plans to block anyone who continues to criticize her husband over his previous comments while telling anyone who falls under that umbrella to “respectfully f— off.”
