The 2021 NFL season kicks off on Thursday night with the Dallas Cowboys traveling to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers, and Skip Bayless is upset about that.
Leave it to Bayless to perhaps be the only football fan on the planet to not be excited for the start of the newest NFL season.
Bayless, a die-hard Cowboys fan, explained (whined) on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Undisputed’ that Dallas doesn’t deserve to play in the NFL’s kickoff game. He went as far as to say that it’s “unfair” that his Cowboys have to take on Tom Brady and the Bucs on Thursday.
His rant about the Cowboys inevitably losing on Thursday night wasn’t a short one, either. Bayless went on for over five minutes about why it’s so unfair that his team has to open up the season in such a tough spot.

While Bayless’ rant is exhausting, he does actually make some very strong and valid points.
He’s correct in saying that the Cowboys have no business playing in the season opener if it were based on recent successes. The thing is, which Bayless understands, is that it’s not all about recent successes, it’s about money and fandom, and the Cowboys are still ‘America’s team.’
We’re accustomed to seeing two of the better teams in the league open up the season. The Bucs certainly check that box as defending Super Bowl champs, but Dallas is still a giant question mark.
It’ll be interesting to see how Bayless spins out of this one if the Cowboys pull off the upset in Tampa Bay on Thursday night.
