Skip Bayless is back in the news, and again, it isn’t the good kind. This time, it is because he tweeted about a fake report that claimed that Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White was going to fired. On top of that, the fake report that Bayless shared claimed that Caitlin Clark’s college coach Jan Jensen would replace White.
The former First Take hosts’ tweet came one day after White and Clark got into a heated argument on the bench during the Fever’s loss to the Portland Fire.
“No surprise: Stephanie White reportedly out after repeated in-game clashes with Caitlin Clark. Not saying White was wrong – but YOU CAN’T SHOW UP THE FACE OF THE LEAGUE ON CAMERA. Caitlin obviously wants a favorite of hers from Iowa, Jan Jensen. But no way Jensen can coach both,” Skip Bayless wrote on X.
The report Bayless was referencing read, “The Indiana Fever are expected to name Jan Jensen as their next head coach amid growing speculation surrounding Stephanie White’s future with the franchise following recent tensions spreading online involving Caitlin Clark. Jensen would remain as Iowa’s head coach while simultaneously taking on the Fever role in a historic dual-coaching arrangement.”
Just one problem. It was completely bogus.
Apparently, the fact that the X account that made the report had less than 1,500 followers wasn’t a big enough red flag for the longtime “journalist.”
Even after a multitude of people explained to him or called him out for referencing a clearly fake report about Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White, Skip Bayless still didn’t admit he made a mistake.
“Now they’re saying reports are erroneous about Stephanie White. But the point is, she won’t last much longer clashing during games with CAITLIN CLARK … even if her issues with Caitlin are mostly valid,” Bayless wrote later, not specifying who “they” actually are.
The trolling of Skip Bayless was far from over
Making the mockery of Skip Bayless that much more significant, the account that fooled him with its fake Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White report, wrote in a later tweet, “Reports from Skip Bayless claiming that Stephanie White is being fired as Indiana Fever head coach are false and fake news. As confirmed by @chloepeterson67, Stephanie White remains committed to leading the Fever.”
