The Lakers’ disappointing season continues to get worse.

Just when it seems the team is ready to make a push for the NBA Playoffs, it finds a new, more exciting way to fall.

The latest loss was a 139-130 defeat at the hands of the 17-win Rockets, dropping Los Angeles’s season record to nine games below .500. At 28-37, the Lakers sit at ninth place in the Western Conference standings and appear destined for a play-in opportunity for one of the final postseason spots.

That is, if they can stop the bleeding a bit.

LA has won just twice in their last 10 tries, falling to Rockets, Blazers, and Pelicans in the process. Last night’s loss to Houston was as dejecting as they come.

With the game tied and the ball in their possession, the Lakers looked to star LeBron James.

The All-Star appeared to beat his defender off the ball and was on his way to the game winning bucket. Rather than slam that tomahawk jam we’ve come so accustomed to seeing, James passed up the shot.

Instead, he dished it out to Carmelo Anthony for a long jump shot, which bricked of the iron, sending the game to overtime.

Anthony almost seemed surprised to get the ball. Honestly, I think everyone watching had the same reaction. Even the commentators were stunned James passed up on a lay-in opportunity.

NBA viewers were not kind to the superstar.

One of those viewers was Skip Bayless, who loves to stir the pot when it comes to LeBron James.

And he was handed a golden ticket on Wednesday.

You can’t necessarily blame Bayless for saying what everyone was thinking. He’d go on to berate James’s missed opportunity in yet another disappointing loss.

Not many in Los Angeles are happy with the team’s poor play this year. Skip, on the other hand, is soaking it in.
