This POV Footage Of A Snowboarder Surviving An Avalanche Will Turn Your Boxer Briefs Brown

It’s that time of year, I guess, the time when we start to see a wave of avalanche videos hitting YouTube.

There’s something about mid-to-late January that really brings them out. Obviously, there’s an abundance of snow in the Northern Hemisphere this time of year but I think this part of January through early March is also that time of year when most people take skiing/snowboarding trips. Add to that the fact that GoPro has become one of the most profitable companies on the planet and nearly every snowboarder on the slopes has a GoPro attached to his helmet. Given all these factors we can begin to see why there are so many goddamn avalanche videos on the Internet this time of year.

My snow trips are done for the season. I spent NYE and an additional week in Iceland, ringing in the new year underneath the Northern Lights (seriously, we saw them on NYE)…But is it so wrong, avalanche aside, that watching this video made me want to book a snowboarding trip to Aspen right now?
