After being unable to come to an agreement on a restructuring of his contract, the New York Jets are reportedly going to release wide receiver and return man Braxton Berrios.
In addition to his on-the-field accomplishments — the 27-year-old pass catch was named First-Team All-Pro as a return man back in 2021 and won Super Bowl LIII with the New England Patriots — Berrios is doing quite well off the field, too, as he’s in a relationship with 26-year-old model and social media influencer Sophia Culpo, who is the sister of former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo.
As a receiver, Berrios — who played college football for the University of Miami Hurricanes from 2014 to 2017 — has 107 catches for 1,085 yards and five touchdowns, all of which came with the Jes in his four seasons with the team. He’s also rushed for another 160 yards and four touchdowns while with Gang Green.
His most prolific season as a pass catch came in the year 2021 when he caught 46 passes for 431 yards and two touchdowns. Following the emergence of Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, however, Berrios fell down the wide receiver pecking order and had just 18 catches for 145 yards and no touchdowns across 17 games.
Given Berrios’ ability to play in the slot on contribute on special teams, he and his Culpo sister girlfriend will surely find a new home in no time. For the sake of her and her Instagram (and her followers, for that matter), let’s all hope it’s somewhere warmer than New York.
Sophia, of course, isn’t the only Culpo sister to be dating an NFL player, as her older sister Olivia — the former Miss Universe who used to date Danny Amendola — has been in a relationship with Pro Bowl San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey since 2019.
Currently, Sophia, Olivia, and their older sister Aurora star in the reality TV series The Culpo Sisters, which is streaming on HBO Max.
