Sophie Cunningham did not get a warm welcome in Portland.
Last week, Cunningham went viral when she spoke out against youth trans athletes playing in women’s sports.
“I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I’m like, ‘I never once said that,’” she says. “I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
She would later double down on her comments while speaking to the media.
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense. … I think it’s really important to protect children.”
“I don’t dislike anyone. … I’m there to love, but I’m also there to love biological women.”
On Friday, LGBTQ Portland trolled Cunningham by waving trans flags and booing her everytime she toughed the ball.

Cunningham was able to quiet the booing crowd by hitting a 3-pointer early in the game.
