U.S. Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley was arrested on Thursday night over an altercation with his ex-girlfriend Alaysha Johnson. Both were in Miami to participate in the Grand Slam Track meet being held this weekend.

Kerley, a two-time Olympic medalist, was arrested after police were called to the Grand Slam Track hotel in Dania Beach at around 7:48 p.m. He was charged with first-degree misdemeanor charge of touch or strike/battery. TMZ reports that as of Friday afternoon he was still in Broward County Jail.

According to the police report obtained by Front Office Sports, Fred Kerley allegedly got aggressive with Alaysha Johnson during an argument. During the incident, the police report states, he said “something to the effect of ‘I’m going to f— everyone up in here,’ then hit Johnson in the face causing her nose to bleed.

Grand Slam Track issued a statement to LetsRun.com about the incident which read, “Fred Kerley was arrested last night. The matter is under active investigation, and all inquiries should be directed to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Fred will not compete this weekend. We have no further comment at this time.”

The 29-year-old Kerley, who won silver and bronze medals at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics respectively, was also arrested in January of 2025. In that incident, a confrontation with police turned into a physical altercation. The star of the Netflix series SPRINT ended up being tased by an officer, which was caught on video by a police body camera.

Three days after that arrest, Fred Kerley’s estranged wife, Angelica Taylor, appeared at his bond hearing to press charges against him to an alleged domestic violence incident that she said occurred in May 2024. He allegedly took her phone and fled in his car after a physical altercation in which she confronted him about a message on Instagram. Kerley ended up being charged with battery by strangulation and robbery by sudden snatching.
