A Spurs announcer was fired after his scorned girlfriend exposed his alleged affair with a Spurs player’s sister.

Earlier this week, Jacob Tobey, the television play-by-play voice of the San Antonio Spurs, had his Instagram account hacked by his girlfriend, who made posts on his account accusing him of cheating with the sister of Spurs player Lindy Waters III.

“This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her with Loren Waters. @lorenkwatrs So feel free to continue following me if you really think I’m a good guy because I’m not. :)”

Tobey’s girlfriend went on to post romantic photos of Tobey and Waters.

Days after the posts, Tobey has reportedly been fired as the Spurs’ announcer.

Jacob Tobey is out as the Spurs’ lead play-by-play announcer after his girlfriend accused him on social media of cheating on her with a player’s sister, sources told Front Office Sports.

Reps for the Spurs and Tobey could not immediately be reached for comment.

According to Front Office Sports, Tobey was a rising star in the announcing industry.

Tobey, a talented young announcer who has called Spurs games since 2024, was on FOS’s list of rising young play-by-play broadcasters last year. Prior to joining the Spurs’ booth, he worked at 9NEWS in Denver and has called play-by-play for outlets including Fox Sports and the Pac-12 Network.

The Spurs will probably not have a hard time finding a replacement for Tobey, considering they are one of the hottest teams in the league after making the NBA Finals last season.
