Pittsburgh Steelers Fans Are Fed Up With Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada, Want Him Gone

The Pittsburgh Steelers came into today with a two-game win streak looking for a big road win as three-point favorites against the Texans. Instead, the team was whomped, 30-6, and many feel that offensive coordinator Matt Canada is to blame.

This is far from the first time that Steelers fans have wanted Matt Canada fired. Ever since he was hired prior to the 2021 season, Pittsburgh fans have been rightly complaining about him.

They’ve been a bottom-ten offense in both 2021 and 2022. Most wanted him fired after last season. He was retained, with the hopes that sophomore seasons from quarterback Kenny Pickett and wide receiver George Pickens and the signing of free agent WR Allen Robinson would help the offense.

It has not. The team has over 300 yards of offense just once, and has still not gained over 400 yards in a single game under Matt Canada. That’s 37 games and counting.

Sunday’s loss to the Texans may have been a new low. Houston has shown some promise, but this was a game Vegas and the Steelers expected to win. Instead, the team laid an egg on both sides of the ball. The offense in particular was especially bad.

Pittsburgh had just 225 yards of offense and 12 first downs, and could not find the end zone all day. Pickett was awful, throwing for just 114 yards on 23 attempts to go along with an interception. And, disaster struck when Matt Canada mysteriously called a shotgun pass on 4th and 1 that had no chance and got Kenny Pickett hurt.

The calls for Matt Canada’s job has only intensified for most Pittsburgh fans and NFL observers.

“Matt Canada is a horrific combination of being not only the worst, but also the most predictable playcaller in the NFL,” NFL expert Warren Sharp said.
“Mike Tomlin has to cut the cord on the Matt Canada experiment. We know he’s not good enough. Make the switch at the bye, get two weeks to make whatever changes are necessary. Take the rest of 2023 to find out if Kenny Pickett can be something close to a league average NFL QB,” Steelers_DB said.

“Matt Canada isn’t going to fire himself. That’s why I’m done b——- about him. It starts at the top means Rooney/Tomlin. Who hired him? Who continues to keep him? It’s one of those 2. And it’s crippled this team for too long,” KevinAdams26 said.

There are hundreds more tweets just like these. Pretty much everyone is in agreement. Matt Canada’s got to go.
