In a bold pre-game declaration, Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson claims that he will intercept a pass from 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy during their matchup this Sunday.

Peterson’s claim comes as he believes he has identified “tell signs” in the 49ers‘ offensive strategies.

During a recent appearance on the “All Things Covered” podcast, Peterson shared his insights, saying, “There are some tell signs out there that tell us what plays we’re gonna get from those guys in certain situations.” He went on to add, “When I get my pick Sunday, we’ll talk about it.”

This prediction has garnered significant attention in the lead-up to the season opener.

In response to Peterson’s statement, Brock Purdy, the 49ers’ starting quarterback, remained composed and stated, “We’ll see.”

Purdy elaborated on his thoughts, acknowledging Peterson’s impressive career and reputation.

He remarked, “I don’t really know what to say about that. He’s a good player. Patrick Peterson’s a great player; I grew up watching him and everything. It’s the competitive nature of football, so we’ll see.”

Brock Purdy actually met Patrick Peterson back in 2017 after being named the top high school football player in Arizona.

Sunday’s game between the Steelers and the 49ers will now be spotlighted by the inner-battle between Peterson and Purdy.
