Steph Curry Snaps Unreal Streak That May Never Be Broken After Failing To Hit A 3-Pointer

Steph Curry is one of the deadliest shooters in NBA history, and there aren’t many people out there who are better candidates to step up when you need someone to hit a shot from behind the arc—a reality reflected in an unreal streak that recently came to an end.

It was kind of hard to imagine Steph Curry would transform into the force he eventually became when he was still in college. He obviously made quite a name for himself at Davidson while leading the team to the Elite Eight during the NCAA Tournament in 2008, but there were still some questions about how he’d fare once he made the leap to the NBA.

It didn’t take long for Curry to prove he could hang after the Golden State Warriors selected him with the seventh overall pick in the NBA Draft in 2009. He showed plenty of flashes of brilliance over his first few seasons before firmly emerging as a superstar in the early 2010s thanks in no small part to his ability to hit three-pointers with ease.

Curry would eventually set an NBA record in the mid-2010s by making at least one three in 157 consecutive games, which was 30 more than the mark Kyle Korver had previously achieved. However, that had nothing on what transpired once he kicked off a new streak on December 1, 2018—one that didn’t come to an end until more than five years later.

On Sunday, the Warriors topped the Trail Blazers by a score of 118-114 in a game where their star guard was not his usual self. By the time the contest came to an end, Curry only posted 7 points in 31 minutes of action (although he did have eight assists) and went 0-8 from beyond the arc.

That was the first time he’d failed to hit at least one trey in 268 games, which is now the new record.

There’s a chance Curry could top himself when everything is said and done, and while another player with the skills to give him a run for his money could come along at some point in time, it still seems like the 35-year-old is the top candidate compared to the rest of his current peers.
